Free boot & trunk fit calculator

Will it fit in your car?

Check whether furniture, boxes, appliances and everyday purchases are likely to fit in your boot — before you buy, collect or drive. We check the cargo space and the boot opening, and show every measurement we use.

Your car

Only vehicles with sourced measurements are listed.

Car not listed or different generation? — it takes about two minutes.

Buying from IKEA? Use the article number

IKEA does not offer a public product-data API we can use, so we don't fetch or guess package sizes. Enter the article number to open the official IKEA product search, then copy the package dimensions from the product page (“Product details → Measurements / Packaging”) into the packages below — one row per package.

Item dimensionsUse the packaged size if it's boxed. Add one row per box for multi-box products.

A buffer you choose, added to each item dimension. Not a guarantee.

How the fit check works

1. Your car

Pick a car with sourced measurements (18 listed, 4 with opening data) or enter your own in two minutes.

2. Your item

Enter the packaged size. Multi-box products get one row per package.

3. Every orientation

We test up to six orientations against the cargo space, then check the opening separately.

4. An honest answer

“Likely fits”, “Might fit”, “No fit found” or “Need more measurements” — never a guarantee.

Why boot size in litres doesn’t answer the question

A boot quoted at 500 litres tells you how many standard blocks fit inside, not whether a 1.9-metre flat-pack box or a boxed 65-inch TV will. What matters for rigid items is the length, the narrowest width (usually between the wheel arches), the usable height — and above all, whether the item can get through the boot opening, which is often smaller than the space behind it.

Why the opening mattersSide view: a tall box fits inside the cargo area but is taller than the opening, so it cannot pass straight in.Fits inside… but is it taller than the opening?
An item can be smaller than the cargo space yet larger than the opening. Interior and opening are checked separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is a “Likely fits” result a guarantee?

No. It means the item fits the documented (or entered) rectangular measurements in at least one tested orientation, with your chosen clearance, and passes the boot opening. Real boots have curves, trim and hinges, and packaging can be larger than listed. Always check your own car and item.

My car isn’t listed — can I still use it?

Yes. Choose “I know my measurements” and enter the six measurements described in our measuring guide. We only list vehicles where we have sourced measurements, so the manual mode works for every car.

Where do the car measurements come from?

From manufacturer technical documents and other credible sources, each cited with a page reference. Open “View measurements and sources” after choosing a car, or see the sources page. We never estimate missing figures from the boot volume.

Does it work for a sofa, wardrobe or washing machine?

Yes — enter the packaged (or assembled) dimensions. Tick “Must stay upright” for items like fridges or washing machines if the manufacturer requires it, so only upright orientations are tested.

Do you store my measurements?

No. Calculations run in your browser. If you save a car or item, it is stored only on your device. See our privacy policy.
